Just days before Christmas, and the all-important Boxing Day sales, Active Air Rentals received a panicked call from a large mall facility manager. The air conditioning had failed in their biggest retail shop. A national retailer with great expectations for Boxing Day sales. No air conditioning would make shopping unbearable and certainly have a negative impact on sales.
To make it worse, replacement parts for the permanent air conditioning system were weeks away.
The Solution
What to do? WA State Manager Brett Richards explains,
‘After a phone discussion and site visit we specified a 105 kW packaged unit hire air conditioner would do the job.
Because the site was tight we craned the air con unit onto the roof, cut access holes for ducting and attached the ducting directly to their air handler to distribute the cool air throughout the store.
‘It was a massive job, taking two full days to install and it happened during the Christmas period. But we did it, and the results were well worth it.’
The Results
The retailer and facility manager are both really happy to have avoided what would have been a very costly breakdown.’
The Active Air team are continuing with routine site visits every few days to ensure everything is running smoothly. The cool air is keeping the customers cool and encouraging them to linger longer.
