The Spirit of Anzac Centenary Experience arrives in Cairns

As the flagship community event of the Anzac Centenary national programme, the Spirit of Anzac Centenary Experience has been busy visiting locations over the last 18 months and with 6 months to go on its tour of Australia the experience arrived in Cairns earlier this month.

As proud air conditioning partner for the flagship event, Active Air Rentals were in Cairns to install the climate control for the experience; the team will head to Townsville next with the Spirit of ANZAC opening there on 2nd September until 11thSeptember.

This truly immersive experience pays tribute to the sacrifices made by service men and women, as well as loved ones who remained at home, during the First World War and ensuing Century of Service.

National temporary power and air conditioning specialist, Active Air Rentals, is the proud air conditioning partner for this once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Great Responsibility For Priceless Wartime Artefacts

“The Spirit of Anzac Centenary Experience allows visitors to walk through recreated First World War environments and view genuine artefacts normally housed at the Australian War Memorial.”

“These priceless wartime artefacts have been painstakingly restored and it’s our job to ensure a precise temperature and humidity level for the artefacts and also the comfort of the Experience visitors no matter what time of year or where in the country they are.” Explains Brad Sweeny, Director, Active Air Rentals.

Others Said It Couldn’t be Done

Brad explains more about this unique and very precise job.

“Other companies said this job couldn’t be done because of the unique challenges it poses, but luckily we thrive on challenge. The first hurdle is that each of the 23 locations has its own distinct layout, meaning we need to customise our install for each one. Secondly the Experience temperature must be kept between 18°C and 22°C with 50 – 55% relative humidity, no matter the time of year or location. Thirdly the bump-in and out timelines are quite tight; just two days for bump-in and one day for bump-out.”

“We are honoured to be part of this major Experience that remembers those who gave their lives for our freedom. We’ve heard that many people are coming out of the Experience very emotional but really pleased to have seen it. For us as a company to play a role in such an important event is really humbling,” notes Brad.

The Experience is presented by the Australian Government, the Australian War Memorial and the Australian Defence Force and is proudly supported by the Commonwealth Bank and Telstra.

The Spirit of Anzac Centenary Experience is a free event, but booking is essential as places are limited. Don’t miss out. Find out more and book now
